The Division of Psychology, Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior is currently staffed by 10 full-time clinical psychologists. Of these faculty psychologists, three are child/pediatric psychologists, one is a neuropsychologist, and the other six positions are adult clinical psychologists. This does not include the eight clinical psychologists at the V.A. Medical Center, all of whom are part of the Clinical Psychology Residency Training Consortium. The Clinical Psychology Residency Training Consortium has nine Clinical Psychology Residents and four post-doctoral Fellows.

The Division of Psychology has a rich history of conducting clinical research. Current areas of research include substance abuse disorders; anxiety disorders, particularly posttraumatic stress disorder; intimate partner violence; motivational interviewing; children's psychological response to chronic illness; sleep disorders; personality disorders and suicidal and parasuicidal behavior associated with personality disorders; obesity, and behaviora l medicine, particularly headache. The Division of Psychology faculty members are funded by the National Institute of Mental Health, National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, National Institute on Drug Abuse, and other state, national, and private foundations that support research efforts.

Division of Psychology faculty, residents, and fellows provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and consultative services to the Child Psychiatry Inpatient Unit, Children's Hospital, the Adult Psychiatry Inpatient Services, and in a variety of Adult outpatient programs. They work closely with other departments in the medical school, including the Departments of Pediatrics, Medicine, Neurology, Surgery, Family Medicine, Neurosurgery, and with faculty from the School of Nursing and the School of Dentistry. In addition, all division faculty members participate in medical student education and in the didactic series of the departmental Psychiatry Residency Program. All division faculty members also provide clinical case supervision to residents in training and engage in basic and clinical research and related scholarly activities. Strong research productivity, excellent clinical care, professionalism, and collegiality are valued in this division.
