Research interests include the treatment of posttraumatic stress disorder, substantce use disorders, and the concurrent treatment of these conditions. In addition, Dr. Coffey is interested in the role of emotion and impulsivity in substance dependence and uses laboratory models (e.g., cue reactivity) to elucidate the role of these constructs in the maintenance of substance use disorders. Dr. Coffey serves as the Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator on numerous grants funded by the National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, the National Institute on Drug Abuse, and the National Institute of Mental Health.
